How to Raise Capital and Properly Value Your Business

On today’s episode, Attorney Michael Brette (founder of Small Cap Equity Advisors and author of Raising Capital for Your Business) discusses how business owners (particularly those in the cannabis space) can determine the value of their business without scaring off investors or "giving away the store".

He explains the difference between a business appraisal and a business valuation and discusses why it’s critical for entrepreneurs to properly value their companies if they want to grow properly. He also shares several strategies for raising capital and explains the basic security laws and regulations you need to know and abide by when approaching investors. And Michael also explains the difference between equity crowdfunding and 506(c) private placement and how your company valuations (if done properly) can help you determine how much equity you'll need to give away to use to raise capital from other outside investors.
